WWE SummerSlam 2016 took place on August 21st from the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.
The event was supposed to have consisted of thirteen matches. Three of which appeared on the event’s Kick-Off pre-show.
Results
- American Alpha, The Hype Bros. & The Usos defeated Breezango, The Ascension & The Vaudevillains in a 12-man tag team match
- Sami Zayn & Neville defeated The Dudleys in the second match of the Kick-Off
- The third, and final, Kick-Off bout was won by Sheamus in the first ‘Best of Seven Series’ against Cesaro
- Jeri-KO (Chris Jericho & Kevin Owens) were victors over Enzo Amore & Big Cass
- Charlotte reclaimed the WWE Women’s Championship from Sasha Banks
- The Miz retained the WWE Intercontinental Championship against Apollo Crews
- AJ Styles beat John Cena
- Doc Gallows & Karl Anderson beat The New Day by disqualification. Due to the result, New Day retained their WWE Tag Team Championship
- WWE World Champion - Dean Ambrose - kept his belt against Dolph Ziggler
- Natalya, Alexa Bliss and their mystery partner, Nikki Bella, won a six-women tag team match. Their opponents were Becky Lynch, Naomi and Carmella
- Finn Balor beat Seth Rollins to become the first-ever WWE Universal Champion
- Rusev .vs. Roman Reigns for the US Championship didn’t begin as Reigns beat up Rusev before the bell. The champion was unable to wrestle*
- In the main event, Brock Lesnar destroyed Randy Orton forcing the referee to call for a TKO
